My @rogueterritory stantons are back from repair! Back to breaking them in 💫
Rogue Territory // 14.5oz Stanton - Purchased 10/12/13
So since October of 2013, I’ve been wearing these quite often. I know some of my friends remember me trying to break these in; leaving indigo skid marks everywhere I sat. Not being able to sit down on park benches and just walking around like I got a stick up my ass lol. Trying to break in 14.5oz denim is no easy task. For the most part, it’s been going well and the jeans have been holding up well EXCEPT for my left pocket. Which I only use to keep my iPhone. Literally that pocket is not allowed to house anything other than my phone. Last time I checked, iPhones are not sharp so I don’t get why my pocket keeps ripping apart like this. You can see the red stitching where I tried to do some damage control but now I think this pocket is just beyond repair.
For jeans that cost upwards of $250 (including tax), the pockets should not be deteriorating like this. I have had a $50 pair of Levi’s from like 2008 that is still in such good condition. How is that these pockets are literally falling apart at the seams? Not even at the seams, it’s just falling apart- the fabric is deteriorating… Really unacceptable. I am hoping Rogue Territory can offer some advice, or maybe even send me a new pocket so I can take it to my tailor to redo? I don’t even know… what happens when your pocket just falls apart? Maybe I can send it back to them?
But breaking these in have been quite tough. I remember the first few months they were SO stiff that it actually hurt to sit down. The creases behind the knee would pinch my skin and I would have to just fight through it. FOR THE WHISKERS! Now it’s a bit more comfortable. I’m still not as mobile as if I were wearing my Levi’s, but I can still get my ass on and off a park bench, which was pretty much impossible in the early months. I’m not that much of a denim head so if I could do it again, I would definitely opt for the lighter 10oz denim. I think it would help speed up the breaking in process.
Overall these jeans are really nice. I love the quality of them (except for the pocket of course) and the back pen pocket has gotten me a lot of compliments. By girls… which means they are looking at my ass, which means the jeans fit well around the ass (or they fit horribly?), which means I got my moneys worth.
I reached out to RT about my pocket and hopefully they can offer some assistance. I honestly don’t know what they can do except ask me to send in my jeans for repair, which I would love, but seriously… this is a hassle. Jeans are supposed to just last. This is not cool. It is however giving me a new found appreciation for what Levi’s has been doing for all these years. If for whatever reason RT refuses to address this issue, I may just walk away from this luxe denim life and go back to my roots.
What jeans are you wearing? Do you have a favorite brand/fit and why?
The good folks at RT have already reached out to me to help me resolve this issue with the pocket. Cool.
You into the whole raw denim movement? If so, what are your favorite brands? If not, what brands of jeans do you wear?
I own one pair of raw denim and it’s from Rogue Territory.
I used to wear a regular pair of Levi’s 501 Originals pretty heavily. Like 4-5 times a day since I was a sophomore in high school. Went through probably thousands of washes as I washed them every week. The thing was broken in to absolute perfection and faded to the most unique, and perfect shade.
This is when I was completely oblivious to the denim game and when I blew out the knee I went to on Levis.com and ordered a pair in the same size and color (by name) and was disappointed by the color. I actually brought in my pair of jeans to the Levis store in Herald Square and they educated me some about the whole denim game and how these fades were impossible to get unless I actually lived in them.
Okay I went off tangent a bit. So I wear the Roge Territories. They fit me well. Hugs my ass well and fits nicely down the thighs and I had them tapered a bit as well. It’s 14.5oz so it’s pretty thick and stiff still. Got them back in October.
I own three jeans; Rogue Territory 14.5oz Stantons, Levi’s 501 Originals and a pair of black skinny jeans from Uniqlo.
Uniqlo denim is nice but stretches out A LOT. Started off skinny and now it’s just more slim fit but the waist increased by at least 2 sizes. This reminds me to shrink them soon so I don’t look like a fool when wearing them.
Denim game can be stressful but I would check out Levi’s. Find a fit that works well with your body type and get it tailored to your needs.
So... to get a 501 tapered is the best option?
These are my 8year old 501 originals. My 2nd favorite pair of jeans right after my new [tapered] RT Stantons
Best ever tapered jeans? Best ever tapered trousers (no denim)?
I don’t think I’ve ever purchased jeans and just wore it the way they were. There will never be the “best tapered” anything because everyone is different. The best way to get the best tapered denim/trousers is to get them tapered to your measurements by your tailor.
That being said; I got my Rogue Territory Stantons tapered and I love them

ive been squatting/deadlifting alot and i cant fit into my pants anymore. what brands do you suggest?
welcome to the thunderthighclub.
501 originals fit me really well. i also have no ass so the 501s do a good job of hugging my buttocks to give it a good shape. i get them tapered for a better fit.
i recently picked up a pair of 14.5oz Stantons from Rogue Territory and they fit really well too. I’m loving the break-in process of them, even tho im leaving indigo skid marks everywhere i go lol.
the RTs are quite an investment so I would try out the 501s; again, they fit well in the thighs and hug the ass. Just make sure to get it tapered because it has like a borderline boot cut.
